Chocolate chip swirl buns - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients for the dough:
  • 300 grams of flour
  • 130 milliliters of milk
  • 50 grams of butter
  • 20 grams of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 grams of dried yeast
  • salt

Ingredients for the filling:
  • 130 milliliters of milk
  • 50 grams of chocolate chips
  • 20 grams of sugar
  • 1 spoon with flour
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 vanilla sugar

Prepare the dough

Mix the egg with the milk.

Separately mix the flour with the sugar, the salt and the dried yeast.

Add the butter at room temperature over the flour mixture and mix.

Add the milk composition over the flour composition and mix.
Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

Prepare the filling

Mix the egg yolk with the sugar and the vanilla sugar. Add the flour and mix.

Add the milk and mix.

Put the composition on slow fire and mix from time to time, until it becomes thick like a pudding.

Spread the dough on the table.

Add the filling then add the chocolate chips.

Roll the dough and then cut it in pieces of 2-3 cm.

Let it rest for another 15-20 minutes.

Before putting them in the oven you can brush them with some milk and sprinkle some sugar on top (these are two tricks so that the buns look better once baked).

Bake them in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy!

Hotel review - Hotel Steigenberger Linz, Austria

The room was OK, although a bit old.

The breakfast was decent, but not quite up to the standard for a 4 star hotel. Very good coffee.

Free Wi-Fi and free public parking places close to the hotel.

Kunefe - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients:
  • 350 grams of mozzarella
  • 220 grams of kadayif dough (we had some "vermicelli" pasta)
  • 90 grams of butter
  • 2 spoons with fresh cream

For the syrup:
  • 120 milliliters of water
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • crushed pistachio

First make the syrup: in a pan boil the water with the sugar for a few minutes until the sugar is melted, then add the lemon juice and let it simmer at slow fire for 10 minutes. Let it cool!

We put the pasta in boiling water and let it there for a minute or two.

Drain the water from the pasta and mix it with the melted butter. Divide the pasta in two parts.

Grease a tray with some butter, then add 1 part of the pasta, then the mozzarella , the fresh cream and finally the remaining pasta.

Let it bake in the preheated oven at 180 Celsius degrees until golden brown.

When ready, take it out from the oven and pour the syrup over the pasta.

Sprinkle it with some crushed pistachio.
Enjoy!
