Cheese pie fried in sunflower oil - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients:
  • 450 grams of flour
  • 400 grams of fresh cheese
  • 300- 350 milliliters of water
  • 20 grams of fresh yeast
  • 4 teaspoons with olive oil
  • 4 -5 spoons with sugar
  • 2 teaspoons with fresh cream
  • 1 egg
  • zest from half of a lemon
  • 200 ml sunflower oil (for frying)
  • salt

Mix the yeast with 1 spoon of sugar. Then add the flour, the olive oil, the water and the salt.

Add the fresh cream and continue mixing until you obtain a non sticky dough.
Let it rest for 30 minutes in a warm place.

Divide the dough in equal parts (as many as you want, depending on how big you want each pie to be).

For the filling mix the cheese with the egg, the remaining sugar and the zest from the lemon. If you want the cheese to be salty, add some salt in the mix and it will be as good as the sweet filling.

Spread the dough on the table and add 1 or 2 spoons with the cheese mix in the middle. Now fold the dough like in the photo (ply from each corner towards the middle).

Or you can make one round layer of dough, add the cheese mix in the middle, cover with another round layer of dough and fold both layers together at the edges.

This technique is taken from here

Heat the sunflower oil and add the pies. Keep them a few minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Enjoy!
