Peach custard tart - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients for the dough:
  • 200 grams of flour
  • 125 grams of butter
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • 1 spoon of water
Ingredients for the filling:
  • 400 grams of fresh cream
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • 30 grams of flour
  • 5 peaches/ nectarines
  • 3 eggs

Prepare the dough:
Mix the flour with the butter, the sugar and the water.
Make a non sticky dough and put it in the fridge for 10 minutes.

Spread the dough on the table and put it in a tart pan.

Prepare the filling:
Beat the eggs with the sugar for minimum 5 minutes. The eggs will double their volume and will be fluffy.

Add the flour and the fresh cream and incorporate them slowly.

Clean the peaches and cut them in thin strips. Pour the filling over the dough and then insert in the filling the thin strips of peaches (we tried to assmbly the peach slices in the form of a rose flower).

Put the tart in the oven at 180 Celsius degrees for 40-45 minutes or until ready.

Enjoy!

Eating out - Camara Boierului, Hilton Sibiu, Romania

The inside of the restaurant is very nice, they have also live traditional music.

The food was awful though.

Nothing was fresh - the meals had the texture as those which are pre-cooked, frozen and then unfrozen. To hide this, they used a lot of salt.

Overall, a typical tourist trap.

Trip to Ribeauville, Alsace, France - part 2

As you can see in the photos - busy streets even on a rainy day. That's a certain giveaway of a beautiful village/town.

Apple strudel - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients:
  • 1 kg of chopped apples
  • 350-400 grams of flour
  • 100 milliliters of sparkling water
  • 150 milliliters of yoghurt
  • 150 grams of butter
  • 50 grams of fresh cream
  • 2 egg yolks
  • salt

Mix the egg yolks with the sparkling water, the yoghurt, the fresh cream, the salt and the flour.

Make a non sticky dough.
Divide the dough in two equal parts.

In a bowl mix the butter with 1 spoon of flour. Divide the butter in 4 equal parts.

Spread one part of the dough on the table and spread 1 part of butter on top of it. Cut the dough like in the photo and fold it (first the vertical middle segments, then the corners and, finally, the horizontal middle segments).

Repeat the process with the other part of the dough. Put the 2 folded doughs in the fridge and let them rest for 15 minutes.

Take them form the fridge and repeat the process (which means spread the dough, spread the butter, cut the dough and fold it). Let them rest in the fridge for another 15 minutes.

Cut and clean the apples. Add some sugar if needed.

Take the dough out and spread one part at a time on the table. Add the apples and roll.

Repeat the process with the other part.

Put the strudel in a pan, spread 1 beaten egg over it and put it in the oven at 180 Celsius degrees until golden brown.

Enjoy!
