Doughnuts with orange and honey syrup

Ingredients for the doughnuts:
  • 500 grams of flour
  • 250 milliliters of warm milk
  • 50 grams of melted butter
  • 15 grams of fresh yeast
  • 4 spoons brown sugar
  • 3 spoons with yogurt
  • 1 spoon with honey
  • salt
  • sunflower oil for frying
Ingredients for the syrup:
  • 200 milliliters of water
  • 10 spoons with honey
  • 1 teaspoon with orange zest
  • 1 spoon with orange juice

Mix the butter with the milk and let them heat over a slow fire until the butter melts.

Separately mix the fresh yeast with 2 spoons with milk, the honey and 1 spoon with flour. Let it rest in a warm place for 5 minutes.

Mix the flour with the warm milk/butter composition, the yogurt, the sugar and the fresh yeast.
Add the salt. Make a non sticky dough and let it rest in a warm place for 40 minutes.

Divide the dough in 2 equal parts. Spread one part on the table and with a glass cut round forms.

With another small round form cut the middle of each doughnut.

Repeat the process until you finish the dough.

Let the donuts rest in a warm place or covered with a towel for another 40 minutes.

Heat the sunflower oil.

Fry the donuts on both sides at medium to high fire.

For the syrup: Mix the water with the honey,  the orange zest and orange juice and let them simmer for a minute.

Let the syrup cool a bit then moist each doughnut in it. If you want you can skip this last part and eat the doughnuts as they are, because they are delicious.

Enjoy!
