Trip to Bonifacio, Corsica - part 1

Small town that looks better from the ferry on the sea, than from within.

Trip to Santa Teresa di Gallura, Sardinia, Italy

Small town, with nice views of the sea. Good for a half-day walk-around and sunbathing.

Beer and meat bunns - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients for the dough:
  • 450-500 grams of wheat flour
  • 250 milliliters of beer
  • 50 milliliters of olive oil
  • 20 grams of fresh yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • salt

Mix the yeast with the sugar. Add the flour, the beer, the salt and the olive oil. Mix well to form a homogenous dough.

Ingredients for the meat filling:
  • 350 grams of minced meat
  • 2 onions
  • 1 egg
  • garlic
  • pepper
  • salt
Chop the onions and the garlic and mix with the meat, adding also the other ingredients.

Divide the dough in equal parts (13-15), and spread each part on the table.

In the middle add some meat mixture.

Fold the dough around the meat and return the ball upside down.

In a oven pan add some olive oil and put the meat buns.
Let them rest in a warm place for 30-40 minutes.

Put them in the oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes, then cover the pan with an aluminum foil and let them cook for another 25-30 minutes.
You should eat them hot!

Enjoy!

Traditional Sardinian sweets

This is what we discovered this time:

We highly recommend this confectionery "Loi & Figli" which is located in Via Caen in Olbia (exiting the town on Via Aldo Moro, take a left just before Hotel Demar).

Corsica Ferries review - Corsica Victoria

Although the ferry was big enough (not as big as the Moby ferries though) because it was a bit of a storm, we had a rough journey, but all is well when it ends well.

The ferry had 2 big common areas (bar and self-service restaurant) and a small playing area for children.

The food was good and not too salty, with prices ranging from 8 euro (for pasta) to 11 euro (for a main dish).

Homemade condensed milk - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients:
  • 250 grams of powdered sugar
  • 200 milliliters of milk
  • 25 grams of butter

Put all the ingredients from above in a pot and put it at slow fire (my electric cooking plate was set at level 3 out of 9).

When the butter and sugar are melted, increase the heat a bit (I set it at level 5) and let it boil.

When it starts boiling let it another 10 minutes mixing continuously.

Cool the composition by placing it in a cold place while mixing continuously.

It can be kept in a jar (I kept it for 2 weeks ) in the refrigerator and use it when its needed.
