Trip to Piran, Slovenia

A very pleasant little town.

It is forbidden to enter in the city by car, because is very small. The car must be left in the parking at the entrance of the city (on your left coming from the direction of Portoroz). From there you can walk to the city or you can take the bus. By foot is almost 30 minutes away, but the view is wonderful.

Trip to Portoroz, Slovenia

There's really nothing special about it. It's only a seaside resort...a very expensive one. It's strange why all the German tour operators include it in their catalogues.

Trip to Izola, Slovenia

Nice little seaside town, close to Trieste.

Trip to Bled, Slovenia

Bled is the most sought-after mountain resort in Slovenia.

It's a year round resort, suitable both for winter and summer vacations.
It's situated in an idylical location, on the shores of an Alpine lake, with the mountains guarding the horizon.

It's pretty famous for the castle situated on the island in the middle of the lake.

Unfortunately, due to the bad weather, we could not enjoy the trip to the full and the photos do not look pretty convincing:

 

Trip to Kranj, Slovenia

One of the last trips during our holiday in Slovenia was made to Kranj.

Kranj is a provincial town in northern part of Slovenia, close to the border with Austria.

It seemed a rather peaceful city, with a small historical centre:

During our one week holiday in Slovenia, we stayed at Alpina Hotel, in Kranjska Gora:

We were very happy with our choice, due to the following reasons:

- clean and warm hotel, with everything in good state

- free wireless internet access in the lobby

- free access to the covered pool of the sister hotel Larix located 300 meters away

- over 40 TV channels, with many of them in English

- great buffet dinner: various choices of meat / fish, pasta and vegetables. Also, there was a desert buffet and a variety of fresh fruits

- cheap local beer: EUR 2.5 a 50 cl bottle

- daily supply of soap and shower gel. Used towels changed daily

- great view over the resort and the surrounding mountains


To conclude, we would always recommend this hotel.

In Ljubljana our attention was caught by beautiful traditional doors at the entrance of many buildings.

We are not usually very sensitive at these details, but this time we could not help but notice them, so we decided to share some photos with you:
