Car review - Wolswagen Touareg

We had it rented for a week a couple of years ago.

The car is very heavy, so it did not accelerate very fast, which can be a problem when you need to overtake on national roads.

It's spacious inside, but the trunk did not have too much room.

The seats and suspensions are not very comfortable for a long route.

Overall, we would never spend the money to buy one - there are better cars out there for the same price.

Car review - Mercedes Class C

We drove it about 1 week in Italy in the spring of 2013.

Smooth ride, enough space for 4 people.

But nothing more - there is no feel of a premium car. It´s true it was a rental, hence not so well equipped, but even so, it should have had that special something that creates the desire to own one.

Car review - Ford Kuga

 This car was given to us by the rental company as a replacement of a Subaru Forrester, which had become unavailable at the last minute.

But putting the Kuga in the same category with the Forrester is a big joke.

The Kuga does not have any off-road ability whatsoever: as soon as you take it off the paved road, it shows its limitations.

The Kuga is only good on the asphalt, be it in the city or outside the city.

Interior space it's not its asset too: anybody with a height over 1,80 meters will suffer due to lack of leg space (be it in the front or the back seats). The trunk is also small compared to other cars in its category.

What is it good for? Well, as a car for a a single person or for a young family with one child, which do not have the intention of taking the car offroad.

Consumption is good: between 7 and 8 liters / 100 km, diesel engine.

Car review - Honda CRV

We drove it about 300 km over a 2 day period on roads in Romania.

The car is pretty roomy on the inside, with a decent size trunk.

Not so good at taking over, but with acceptable accelerations.

It is also up to a little bit of off-road activity.

Consumption was below 8 litres per 100 km (diesel engine).

Overall, it does not stand out, but it is neither anything less than its competitors. However, its relatively high price might not make it the first choice.

Car review - Mitsubishi Pajero

First things first: it is supposed to be a big car for off-road activity. It's neither: the interior space did not feel larger than in the Mitsubishi Outlander and the off-road capability is poor because of the automatic traction (we got stuck in mud and had to be pulled out by a tractor).

The car is not comfortable at all for passangeres and the air conditioning blows in your face no matter the settings and adjustments.

Consumption in the range of 10l / 100km, which is OK considering the size of the car (we drove it for about 2 000 km in Romania, where there are no highways).

Car review - Renault Koleos

We drove the Koleos around the island of Sardinia - probably around 600 km.

Compared to a Mitshubishi Outlander and Volvo XC60 that we drove recently, the Koleos falls on the third place: there's not that much room inside as in the other two, it is difficult to overtake and the consumption is well over the 10l/100km.

We did't have the chance to really take it off road to see how well it does.

All in all, we would buy it only if it had a really significant price advantage compared to the others

Car review - Mitsubishi Outlander

We rented the car for a 2 week period during tough winter times in Romania.

It was a diesel, 4 x 4 car.

The main impression: it is not a good all wheel drive. The car is very unstable on snowy, icy or wet roads. We got stuck in snow twice (fresh snow of about 40 cm) and we were pulled out by tractors.

The car is very spacious on the inside and, together with the trunk, it offers good conditions for 4, even 5 passengers. However, the feeling of the materials inside is that they are rather cheap, unexpected given the relative high price Mitsubishi asks for his car.

It is a good car for the paved roads and the consumption is reasonable. However, it is not good for any type of off-road adventures.
