No Buergbrennen in Luxembourg Ville in 2013

Apparently due to the renovation works concerning the Pont Adolf bridge and other works concerning the canalization of the area , the traditional Buergbrennen will be cancelled this year (and who knows, possible for the years to come).

Vakanz 2013 - Luxembourg tourism trade fair at LuxExpo

The annual "salon du tourisme" will take place at the usual LuxExpo site, during the week-end 18-20 January 2013:

Also as usual, the entrance ticket is 5 eur / person (but if you check the L'essentiel newspapers in the week preceding the fair, you will usually find a complimentary ticket inside).

Winter braderie (street market) in Grevenmacher on 6 January 2013

On Sunday, 6 January, the traders in Luxembourg organise the street market sale ("braderie" as it is known in French):

No opening hours have been published, but it would be safe to say that around lunch time is a good time to go there.

2013 autofestival in Luxembourg

This year, the Autofestival will take place between 26 January and 4 February 2013.

In practice though, the discounts and special promotions will be made by the auto dealers sooner than that, probably just after the holiday period ends.

Thus, if you are in the market for a new car, be sure that starting mid-January you visit the dealers of all the car brands you are interested in and ask them what specials they have during the Autofestival.

Also, the banks will show special interests rates to finance the acquisition of new cars (some tens of basis points off of the usual interest rate) - just ask a couple of them to obtain the best financing deal.

Winter sales 2013 in Luxembourg

The official 2013 winter sales period starts in Luxembourg on January 2nd and lasts until 19 January.

However, based on the previous years' experience, the unofficial sales continue until well into the month of February, when you can get some real bargains, but for a limited number of products left.
