Hotel review - Best Western Santakos Hotel, Kaunas, Lithuania

Never, ever, again.

We staid because of the high review marks received on Booking.com, but reality has nothing to do with the pictures they put on the site.

First, they gave us a very old room with two small beds located in two separate chambers.
Then, we changed the room and they gave us another one (as old as our grandmother, no joking).

The facilities: the cold water didn´t work at the sink and the signs for cold and hot water were reversed.

The breakfast: pathetic. I couldn´t eat anything. The fresh cheese was old and had a bad odor, the fried eggs - the same story. Pastries a disaster as well.

Free internet connection and free parking places.

Trip to Vilnius, Lithuania

Lovely old town, but with a definite need for further rehabilitation of the old quarters.

Eating out - Senoji kibininÄ—, Trakai, Lithuania

If you don´t know what is kibinine, we will tell you:it´s a dough with different kinds of fillings -  chicken and onions, mushroom, cheese etc. The kibinine is quite big so if you only want to taste it, one is enough. The price is very low, less than 2 euro each.

They also have a sweet local drink that goes very well with the kibinine. The service is quite fast: by the texture we think they have them pre-baked / frozen and then they quickly put them in the oven.

Two cookies in Kaunas, Lithuania

Old, old, old...that´s the word to describe them. The place is called Chocolaterie and it's in the old market square.

Trip to Trakai, Lithuania

Trakai is a short drive away from Vilnius. It's famous for its island castle and the small village around it.
