Sunflower cheese and spinach pie - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients for the dough:
  • 300 grams of wheat flour
  • 150 milliliters of sunflower oil
  • 60 milliliters of white wine
  • 50 milliliters of water
  • salt

Ingredients for the filling:
  • 200 grams of fresh cheese
  • 200-250 grams of spinach
  • 2 eggs
  • salt

Mix the flour with the sunflower oil, the water, the wine and the salt and make a non sticky dough.
Let it rest at room temperature while you prepare the filling.

Mix the spinach with 1 entire egg and 1 egg white, the cheese and the salt.

Divide the dough in 2 equal parts.
Spread one part on the table and add the filling like in the photo bellow.

Spread on the table the other part of the dough and then lay it over the filling. Press the two layers of dough together.

Above the pie, in the middle of it put a cup upside down and then start cutting small strips from the inner circle to the outer circle, like in the photo below.

Mix the remaining egg yolk with 1 spoon of milk and brush it over the pie.
In the middle circle spread some sesame seeds.

Now slightly twist each strip so that the filling is visible, shaping the pie in the form of a sunflower (see photo below).

Put it in the oven at 180 Celsius degrees for about 30 minutes or until ready.
