2012 Buergbrennen in Luxembourg City, Sunday, February 26

This year, the Buergbrennen in Luxembourg City will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in the vallee de la Petrusse (the valley beneath the Adolphe bridge going all the way to the Grund).

As usual, the stands of food and drinks will be open as from midday on Sunday, with the big celebration starting at dusk (the fire will be lit around 19:00).

2011 duck race in Luxembourg on Saturday, April 30

The 2011 edition of the duck race will take place in the Petrusse Valley in Luxembourg City, on Saturday, April 30.

The start of the race is at 15:00, but one can have some sausages and a beer at the stands starting with 12:00.

The price to take part in the race is EUR 5 / duck.

Traditional Buergbrennen in Luxembourg City, Sunday, February 21, 2010

Buergbrennen is on old Luxembourg tradition, marking the transition from winter to spring.

Apart from being an occasion for celebration (including the very tasty grilled sausages accompanied by some mulled wine), this tradition is mostly characterized by the burning of a huge wooden cross at the end of the day:

Small stands of food and drinks will be open as from midday on Sunday, with the big celebration starting at 19:00.
