Highways in Romania

Romania has only about 300km of highways (probably one of the lowest density of highways in Europe), but still the authorities are not capable of keeping them in a fairly good state.

This is how the highway Constanta - Bucharest looked like a few days ago, well after the last snow fall occurred:

Look at the bright side of things, if Romania would have more highways and if they were in a good state, the rate at which the low cost raw materials localy produced and exported to west Europe would drastically increase. The pathway towards that future is paved in Romania(or let's say asphalted) but now things are moving a bit slowly on this badly paved road which is good. I'd hate to live to see the day when you will be able to drive to Babele.:)

Even so, the shitty road infrastructure does not currently stop the exportation of goods from Romania: proof are the multitude of trucks carrying Dacia Duster to the West Europe like it's the latest version of Land Cruisers. Truth be told, there are some good things going out of Romania, in addition to the work force: many luxury brands outsource productions in Romania, so on the next D&G or similar item bought, check the label, it just might say Made in Romania

I wasn't saying anything about stopping it because in the current system the trend won't stop until eventually people WILL be able to drive up to Omu' peak, highway traffic sounds WILL replace the sounds of forests and the romantic view of Romania as a wild place in which you can still encounter big mammals WILL be forgotten and only a legend. Romania is still a great exporter of raw materials like wood and the road infrastructure definitely has a say in the RATE at which this leaves the country. So unless the current system changes, business WILL go on as usual. So the rate at which raw materials, which are not just cold raw materials but brothers and sisters as stories and legends tell us, might hold things back until real change will take place.

That's better than the British would be able to do. If it snows even a few cm, they don't have a clue how to clear it. You're very lucky. And honestly, they don't look too bad.....
