Egg whites and jam cake - recipe (including photos)

This is a very good option when you prepare another cake where you only need the egg yolks and you are left with some egg whites to use.

Ingredients for the dough:
  • 6 egg whites
  • 150 grams of flour
  • 100 grams of sugar
  • 70 grams of butter
  • a pinch of salt
  • 100-150 grams of jam

Ingredients for the meringue:
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 spoons with sugar

Beat the egg whites with the sugar.

Add the flour and mix slowly until well incorporated.

Preheat the oven at 180 Celsius degrees.

Add the melted and then cooled butter, the salt and mix.

Put the dough in a rectangular pan (we use one of 20 x 15 cm). Put it in the preheated oven and let it cook at 180 Celsius degrees for 20 minutes.

 Now prepare the meringue: Beat the egg white with the sugar.

Take out the cake, add the jam all over the cake and the meringue and put it back in the oven for another 10-15 minutes or until the meringue is ready.

Keep it in the fridge before serving it!
