Sex shop in Luxembourg - at-home delivery

While passing through Grevenmacher today, we've seen on the window of a red Subaru the advertisement for an on-line sex shop with home delivery in Luxembourg:

Naturally :), when it comes to sex, people get curious so we checked out the website to see what's it about.

To start with, the shop is dedicated to women in and around Luxembourg, so men have to find something else, if needed.

Basically, they have a catalogue of sex toys, sexy lingerie, etc and they come to the client's address to sample and sell the products.

Apparently, starting with January 2010 they will also have an active on-line shop, but, why wait for it :)

Stupid commercial on Ara City Radio

In the morning, driving to the office, I like to tune in to Ara City Radio. I like the morning show presented by a girl named Phoebe, cause she's pretty funny and energetic and wakes me up.

However, what I dislike on this radio  is a stupid commercial for a domiciliary / accounting / tax advisory small company, about which few people have ever heard of.

Anyway, the commercial starts like this "Remember me, I'm Carl .........borough, who brought you the tax tips." And continues saying to call him if I want a copy of these tax tips or to discuss tax planning issues.

First of all, these kind of people that put themselves above the products they sell are really annoying. The idea was to promote the services of your company, not to hear your name on the radio.

Anyway, who do you think remembers such a typical British complicated name? At least you could have asked someone with a really easy name to be remembered to present the company and its services.

No, I do not remember you, I have never heard about you and I do not want to hear about your good for nothing tax tips.

If I want some tax tips, I go to the sites of the BIG 4s in Luxembourg and I take all the tax tips you have never even thought about. And I can find these in a downloadable PDF free version, as opposed to your cheap website.

I will not give the name of this company, as I do not want them to get them traffic for nothing, as it is really not worth it.

For the really interested people, tune in to Radio Ara and you will hear it - and then regret that you've done it .....

Beware of the black panther in Luxembourg

Media reports have been recently spreading the panic about a black panther seen in the woods around the border between Belgium and Luxembourg.

Understandably, people have begun to ask a lot of questions:

- is it possible to breed my cat with the black panther? the resulting kittens would sell fantastically well

- what happened to the Pink Panther?

- is it possible that the beast is actually a big fat black cat ?

However, we think that the real issue was already expressed by a guy on Yahoo!Answers:

Deceptive advertising - Sodebo Pasta Box

While shopping we were attracted by a very big box of pasta exposed on the top of a counter.

However, when we got closer, we've seen that the actual box for sale was less than half the size of the one advertised:

For the marketing geniuses that came up with the idea: choke on it !

How to prepare Tiramisu - recipe (including photos)

Today we prepared Tiramisu and we want to share with you the recipe:

  • ingredients:
            - 100 grams of sugar
            - 4 eggs
            - 250 grams of mascarpone
            - 400 ml coffee freshly brewed
            - 300 grams of savoiardi
            - 100 grams of cocoa
            - 50 ml of milk

  • separate the egg yolks from the whites, but use only 3 whites
  • in a saucepan mix well the egg yolks together with 50 grams of sugar
  • bring the saucepan above boiling water, add the milk and continue to mix until creamy

  •  in a separate bowl, whip the egg whites with the remaining sugar until frothy
  • add the mascarpone over the cold egg yolks and mix well

  •  on the top of the composition above add the egg whites and mix well

  •  cover the bottom of a cake pan with a thin layer of mascarpone mixture (we used aluminum foil to cover the plastic made cake pan) or you can use a glass pan.
  • dip briefly the savoiardi into the cold coffee and set the first layer of savoiardi
  • alternate the layers of mascarpone and savoiardi until you finish the mixture:
  •  sprinkle the top layer of mascarpone with cocoa powder and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
  •  Bon appétit !

Always commercial: "Have a happy period"

Lately we have seen on the Dutch TV channel RTL 4 a commercial for Always pads that ends with the slogan: "Have a happy period".

Especially for the ladies who can not believe their eyes, yes, we assure you that you read correctly "Have a happy period".

    We just wonder what's next:

    - Pril / Fairy - happy dishwashing

    - Renova toilet paper - happy ass wiping, and

    - Durex, naturally, happy fu..ing.

Thankfully, this last one is enjoyable...

Did you know (I): what other things do people do in the bathroom

It seems that, while seating on the WC, some researchers have to thought to make a study about what people do in their situation:

    - 40% read books, newspapers, magasines
    - 20% smoke
    - 14% listen to music
    - 8% discuss on the phone.

Of course there are people that do all these at the same time...

    Tea: Twinings vs. Lipton

So far we were under the impression that Lipton is the best brand of tea out there (I guess that the marketing on Lipton has paid off).

In our recent holiday in Italy we have discovered Twinings brand of tea and we tried various flavours.

We were pleasantly surprised by Twinings and we are now convinced that it is a better tea than Lipton.

If you did not try Twinings so far, please consider it next time you shop for tea...

Luxembourg real estate for individuals - update

Since we have moved to Luxembourg (almost 2 years) we have noticed that the real estate market for private individuals is very active and that the financial crisis had only a minor (if any) negative influence.

We formed this opinion also by taking the example of the 6 unit apartment building where we currently live. During the last 15 months, all the existing tenants have moved out and the apartments have been subsequently re-let at the same monthly rates, with a void period of only 1-2 months.

Moreover, some of our colleagues have also recently changed apartments , moving into 1 bedroom apartments costing around EUR 1,000 per month.

Dave Chappelle comedy show on MTV Germany

Recently we have discovered that the Dave Chappelle comedy show is aired on MTV Germany, each week-day from 21:30.

Surprisingly, the show is not dubbed in German, but is left in its original version, in English.

    Enjoy...

    Thinking of an SUV, 4x4

We are hoping to change our car in the next few months and we decided that we want an SUV, 4x4, because:

    - it's safer on the slippery roads following rain or snow
    - from time to time we make trips to one of the 3rd world European countries, where roads look practicable mainly on the map

Because our budget is limited and we cannot afford a full option Volkswagen Touareg or a Volvo XC 60/90, we are currently considering the following:

    Land Rover Freelander 2:

    Ford Kuga:

    Nissan X-Trail:

    Chevrolet Captiva:

    Opel Antara:

    Hyundai Tucson:

    Suzuki Grand Vitara:

    Volkswagen Tiguan:

The advantage of working at Oberweis

Today we were taking a walk in the city centre and we decided to rest for a while on one of the benches at the end of the Grand Rue, in front of the fountain with the singing sheepherders.

It was around 18:30 and our attention was caught by the cleaning lady doing her job inside the Oberweis shop (the one near Esprit). Being a rather cold and cloudy afternoon, it was one of the few people in the area, despite the evening being still young.

What followed next was really interesting: 3 women went out of the Oberweis shop rather hastily carrying a hand bag (jumbo size type) and an additional shopping bag each. Needless to say that the bags were full, as one could see the shape of bags being distorted by the overload stuffed inside.

It was easy to guess that these ladies were taking home all unsold fresh products which, anyway, would have been thrown away :)

    Stupid people

In the parking lot of Auchan we had the pleasure to enjoy a scene similar to the bloopers with stupid people you can see on TV.

A young couple in their late 20s were trying to stuff their 2 kids in the back of a 2 door Suzuki Swift! At the same time, I was feeling sorry for the 2 cars parked next to them, which had their paint being scratched by the doors opened wide by these stupid people.

How stupid do you have to be to buy a small car as a family car and, even worse, a 2 door car.

One could argue that the guys did not have the money to buy a big family car, but there are several options on the market. Take Dacia Logan for example, where for half of the money spent they could have had the space to take the kids' granny along. And one could not argue that they preferred a quality car instead of a cheap one, as Suzuki is very far away from being the top of its class.

With the savings made by buying a Logan, they could have set up a savings account to cover the kids' higher education, to give them a chance to get smarter than their parents...

    Delhaize cashiers are the worst

Today, I was once again confirmed that Delhaize cashiers are the worst in Luxembourg.

It takes 5 minutes to them to scan 20 products and they enjoy wasting time speaking with old customers.

They would seriously need some training in the Auchan supermarkets, where prompt service and short waiting lines are a rule. And this is not a paid commercial, it's just the result of a simple comparison.
